Yotto’s second album Growth is out now on Odd One Out

Odd One Out has carried Yotto’s records since 2019, alongside Anden, Eli & Fur and Artche. Now it has the album. Growth is out now via the label he runs — thirteen tracks of progressive house, five years on from Hyperfall.

Hyperfall was the breakthrough. It landed on Anjunadeep in 2018, and Erased Dreams took the ambient turn after it. The melodic lane Yotto has built since sits somewhere near Eric Prydz and Lane 8, euphoric without leaving the floor. Growth is the sophomore album, and on Odd One Out it follows Odd Ones V2.

“Hollow”, alongside Møøne, started it. A late-drive record, or a sunset one. “Just Over” arrived at the turn of the year. It’s the mellow one, a soft vocal line running under it. Then “Let You Go” with SØNIN, and the previews stopped there.

Guests sit across the rest of it. Sansa is on “Meadow”, Lost Boy on “Just The Kinda Feeling”. Julia Church takes the vocal on “No Ending”. Booka Shade turn up at “Encounters”, tense and murky. “Intro” opens ambient and experimental, and “Remember Me?” is where the layering shows. The second half turns toward the clubs and the festivals, and toward trance. “Would You Like Fries With That?” goes bright. The bass in “Breezer” holds there, a steady churn. Then “Rimini Trance Energy” closes it out.

Yotto is taking Growth on the road under its own name. The world tour opens in Brooklyn on 4 February and moves across North America from there.
