Skrillex ends a near-decade wait with ‘Quest For Fire

Skrillex is ending an album drought that has stretched almost a decade. ‘Quest For Fire,’ his second studio album, follows Recess — his influential 2014 debut — and arrives out now on OWSLA/Atlantic, the label he’s called home since 2017.

The follow-up had taken on a mythic reputation of its own, with years of speculation about when it might surface. Skrillex confirmed the release with a livestreamed basement set posted to YouTube, previewing tracks from the album alongside prior singles including ‘Rumble’ and ‘Leave Me Like This.’ A companion mini-mix walked through the tracklist, folding in 2022’s ‘Supersonic’ alongside new IDs pulled from his sets this year.

Skrillex has been releasing music since 2010, and the record follows ‘Hydrate,’ his most recent single. ‘Real Spring’ rounded out the run of singles that led into the album. It lands on 16 February.
