SoDown and Bass Physics release ‘Tension

Bass Physics — the Denver-based producer — teams up with SoDown for the video to ‘Tension,’ out today alongside the single. The clip revives SoDown’s skeletal persona, with Bass Physics stepping into a matching costume of his own for the shoot, and the pairing strikes an immediately menacing tone.

On record, SoDown lays saxophone over crunchy, distorted bass, a pairing the two have built a name on. The track opens on trap-style low stabs and skittering 808 rhythms before shifting into a heavier, more melodic push, and the drop stacks driving synth work over more sax and stretches of strings that pull an unexpected texture into the bass. ‘Tension’ follows last year’s ‘Pull The Trigger,’ the duo’s first collaboration, and arrives on SoDown’s own label, GetDown Records. Artwork for the release comes from Defunk (Logan Anderson).
