Martin Solveig releases fifth album ‘Back To Life

Stefflon Don delivers the vocal on the opening track of Martin Solveig’s fifth studio album, ‘Back To Life’, out now via Positiva. That opener, ‘I Don’t Wanna Work’, is also the album’s most recent single, and it positions a characteristic Solveig disco groove beneath a run of infectious hooks. ‘Coffee at Tiffany’s’ continues the party, with Raphaella’s melodies carried across funk bass.

The album is his first full-length release since 2011. His touring commitments for the year have been scheduled at fifty shows — four of them at Ushuaïa in Ibiza across the summer months.

Solveig developed his craft while he was in his teens, then progressed to residencies at Le Palace and Le Queen in Paris. 20 years as a DJ, a producer and a songwriter have built him a global reputation and multi-platinum sales. Chart-topping singles arrived along the way, and so did production work for Madonna.

The record assembles the sounds that Solveig has become known for, and there are quite a few of them: propulsive EDM, dancefloor rhythms, grooves carrying nothing heavy. Underneath all of it the beats run hypnotic, and a sense of liberation carries across the whole of the album. Its melodies are the kind that you keep long after the record has stopped.
