JOYRYDE breaks a hiatus with HARD Recs launch single ‘IM GONE

JOYRYDE — born John Ford — has ended a run of quiet that followed the postponement of his album, with ‘IM GONE’ out now via HARD Recs. It is the label’s first release and his first tune of 2019, arriving after ‘AGEN WIDA.’ HARD Recs is a new branch of Insomniac Music Group, built out of HARD, the promoter behind flagship events such as HARD Summer, Day Of The Dead and the cruise-ship festival Holy Ship!, with a mission to spot future genre-crossing talent the way its festivals do. JOYRYDE built his profile fast after entering the scene, picking up early support from the likes of Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Axwell and Skrillex.
Ford said the album’s darker tone took shape around writing this track. He wrote it, he said, while recovering from back surgery “on maximum strength opioid pills” — “some parts I don’t remember writing.”
