Above & Beyond turn darker on ‘Distorted Truth

Above & Beyond have released ‘Distorted Truth’ on Anjunabeats, the second single from their Common Ground Companion EP and the trio’s second release of the year, following ‘Sun & Moon.’

The track marks a deliberate turn away from its predecessor, the uplifting ‘Flying By Candlelight.’ ‘Distorted Truth’ turns darker and industrial instead. Synths carry the track from its opening bar, forceful enough to match the emotional weight of its predecessor with no vocal at all. Both singles premiered live at ABGT300, the band’s Group Therapy radio night in Hong Kong. The full Companion EP arrives on 29 March.

‘Northern Soul,’ another single from the Common Ground album, carries a Grammy nomination with the ceremony this weekend, following the album’s 2018 release and its debut at number three on the Billboard chart. The release of ‘Distorted Truth’ coincides with tickets going on sale for the band’s first Group Therapy Weekender, a two-day return to Washington’s Gorge Amphitheater on 27 and 28 July.
