John Summit and VLTRA (IT) land Legacy on the rebranded Experts Only

John Summit’s ‘Legacy’, a collaboration with Italian duo VLTRA (IT), is out now via Experts Only — the label he called Off The Grid until July. Cromie sent a cease and desist in June over the use of the old name, and the notice set off a run of conversations between Summit and his team about the alternative. He announced the rebrand on Twitter himself, putting it down to allegations of trademark infringement, a little over a year into the brand’s run. The name had been sitting on merch for more than a year already. The double black diamond carries over into the branding, logo included.

The single is built on an infectious vocal sample and it goes at full throttle — easily among the most emphatic things Summit has released to date. An extended mix comes on the same release, so the long version is there if you want it.

The events side of the operation changed name with it, and Summit has talked about taking what the past year taught them somewhere bigger. The reset, he says, is a chance to go back to club records. Which is where he started.
