Gorgon City open Escape with D Double E

Gorgon City’s ‘Escape’ is out today on EMI, and it opens on a D Double E feature. The track is ‘Hear That’, first on the album, and Annie Mac and Mistajam had already picked it up at Radio 1. The bass-driven chords are theirs, and the track shows just how much ground the pair can cover. ‘Go Deep’, their last single, arrived in May.

There are not many bigger acts in house. Their debut album ‘Sirens’ went to number 10 in the UK, and they’ve been on EMI since 2014. ‘Escape’ is the first thing they’ve put on the label since ‘One Last Song’.

Two launch parties came first. Output in Brooklyn on 2 August, then Night Tales on the 9th, exactly a week later. The Hackney venue is new, and it was the first place anyone heard the record in full, played front to back by Matt and Kye with a few guests. If you were in that room, you got there before the rest of us.
