Duke Dumont releases his debut album, Duality

Duke Dumont has built a catalogue of multi-platinum hits over his career, and his debut album, ‘Duality,’ leans on live instrumentation, strings, keys and guitar among them, straying from a purely electronic sound. It arrived 17 April through EMI.

It opens on ‘Therapy,’ where gospel-inflected vocals sit over piano chords ahead of a rising build into the drop. The same song had already reached number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart on its own, ahead of the album that now carries it.

Dumont has been releasing music since 2007, and ‘Duality’ isn’t his first release on EMI.

‘The Power,’ the album’s other pre-release single, found Dumont teaming up with Zak Abel, and both singles anchor the record’s first half.
