Excision’s fifth album ‘Onyx’ arrives 13 January after a delay

Dion Timmer and Alexis Donn — the singer-songwriter working under her dance-music alias Donna Tella — were the last names Excision brought onto a Subsidia release before ‘Onyx.’
‘Onyx,’ his fifth album and first full-length since 2018’s ‘Apex,’ lands this Thursday, 13 January — thirteen days later than planned, after a delay pushed it past the end of last year. Excision kept singles coming in the years between, without another full record until now. The album surfaced first as a teaser dense with guitar noise, low-end weight, and imagery nobody could quite place, and its cover art is already out, ahead of the record itself. It’s out on Subsidia, Excision’s label, and lands as one of 2022’s more anticipated dance albums so far.
That collaboration, ‘End Of The World,’ was a melodic bass tune that landed inside Subsidia’s ‘Dawn’ vertical — a wing of Subsidia that launched in late 2020 with a batch of 118 songs at once.
