Swedish House Mafia produce The Weeknd’s Sacrifice

The Weeknd — Sacrifice artwork

The Weeknd has been pulling dance producers onto his records for a while, and on ‘Sacrifice’ he hands one of them the desk outright. Swedish House Mafia produced it, and it comes out gritty. The single is out today through XO / Republic, cut from the album ‘Dawn FM’.

Not their first meeting. ‘Moth To A Flame’ came first, and that one has since gone past 160 million streams on Spotify. Swedish House Mafia also collected a co-writing credit on ‘How Do I Make You Love Me?’. So ‘Sacrifice’ isn’t the only place they turn up on the album. The relationship runs well past the studio, too: Sal Slaiby manages The Weeknd, and the trio signed with him shortly before the comeback everyone had been waiting on landed at ‘It Gets Better’.

The last record he delivered for the label was ‘Take My Breath’, which sits at track four on the album. Calvin Harris appears as well, after the two of them made ‘Over Now’. The credits carry the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never, Lil Wayne and Tyler, The Creator.

You have a day to sit with ‘Sacrifice’. ‘Dawn FM’, all 16 tracks of it, arrives on Friday, 7 January. </content>
