Eli Brown opens Insomniac’s Factory 93 with ‘Escape

“There are limitations in what you can and cannot do,” Eli Brown says of the drum & bass he built for fifteen years under a different alias before it started to feel too narrow. House and techno gave him more room, and it’s where he sent his first track, catching the ear of the producer Skream in 2016.
Brown’s new EP, ‘Escape’, arrives as the first release on Factory 93 Records, the underground label Insomniac launched on March 18. Three tracks deep — ‘Escape’, ‘Morning Light’ and ‘My House’ — the title track pairs an unrelenting techno groove with flashes of early-90s trance, a techno-house fusion true to the sound Brown has built through recent work with the likes of Solardo and Green Velvet.
Brown calls being the label’s first artist a rare opportunity given Insomniac’s pull in North America, and says the rest of his year is already filling up with more releases.
Insomniac’s reach already spans festival stages, club nights and its own Secret Project series; Factory 93 is the newest addition.
