Carlita announces One More Dance on Ninja Tune

Stevie Appleton teams up with Carlita on ‘One More Dance’ (through Ninja Tune). You can hear Appleton’s vocal flow over trance-leaning chords and brisk, driving drums, anchored by Carlita’s own pristine production and a bassline that keeps moving underneath, the overall mood sliding from something wistful and nostalgic toward something noticeably more energetic. The song is a taste of her second album, ‘Telepathy’, a 13-track record.

‘Patchwork’, built with Paige Cavell, gave Carlita her first BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record, while ‘Manhattan’, made with SOFI TUKKER, reached the station’s B List.

Carlita’s songs tend to resurface later, caught to a memory or a person well after the track itself has stopped playing. ‘Telepathy’ extends its club-rooted sound through new songwriting and production with a cast of collaborators.

That widening shows clearest on ‘Patchwork’, where tight open hi-hats and a low end that keeps rolling sit beneath Cavell’s vocal, lending the song a loose, romantic lift.
