Bonobo shares two-track release with Arooj Aftab

‘Drift’ had already turned up in Bonobo’s live sets earlier this year. Now it’s out properly, alongside ‘Fire on the Water,’ a collaboration with the Grammy-winning singer Arooj Aftab.

‘Drift’ leans toward the dancefloor. Built around a melodic house beat, with an official video to go with it. The version Bonobo played live already had a following of its own, among fans who caught those early sets. ‘Fire on the Water’ carries the emotional weight of the release, the more atmospheric of the two.

Together, the two tracks point to a fuller record that moves between intimacy and energy, shaped by years of touring and collaboration across continents. Bonobo is also planning a new live production across North America later this year. Both singles are cut from ‘Always on Your Side,’ with Joy Crookes on vocals on its opening track — a four-track release in total. Listen below.
