Above & Beyond finally release ‘Rocket Science’ after a year live

Above & Beyond played ‘Rocket Science’ live for 23,000 fans at the Gorge Amphitheatre last September. A year on the road before it ever reached a store. It’s out now, 7 September, on Anjunabeats, where the trio have released since 2002.

It’s stayed part of their live sets since, a familiar cut for anyone who’s caught the trio recently. Its bass-heavy build has become a festival favorite in its own right, well before the studio cut existed. Now it has one: a two-track release pairing the original with an extended mix.

The trio — Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki — have headlined sell-out shows at the likes of Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 Arena. This year alone brought the Common Ground album, a run of tour dates and festival stops at Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Ultra Miami. ‘Rocket Science’ sits in a different, club-facing lane, the one ‘Red Rocks’ worked before it, nearer their Group Therapy years than Common Ground’s deeper songwriting. It lands just ahead of ABGT300 in Hong Kong, later this month.
