Zingara opens a headlining tour with For The Crystal Children

Today, in Urbana, Illinois, Zingara — whose sound leans toward the spiritual end of bass music — kicks off a headlining tour with fourteen more US dates to follow, timed to land alongside a new EP, ‘For The Crystal Children’.

“When it was time to start brainstorming new ideas, this concept popped into my head,” Zingara said. The EP’s four tracks open on a spoken-word intro before moving into a bass-heavy exploration of the crystal children concept and the mind underneath it. It follows ‘The Code of Dreamz’, her debut album released earlier this year.

The closer, ‘Rhythm of Life’, is doing double duty: it’s also her most recent release on Zingara Music, now folded into the EP as its final track. It’s built with the likes of Maurice Brown and Steller around jazzy saxophone runs, the sound of dripping water and intergalactic bass work threaded with trumpet. The EP closes on it instead of opening with it — the only track on the record that already existed.
