Wassu returns to TOR with ‘Not So Random

Wassu’s new EP ‘Not So Random’ opens fast, its title track built on a heavy, propulsive rhythm. The song gives way to ‘Loux,’ a lighter, more percussive turn, before ‘Club 201’ closes the release on its most melodic note. The three tracks arrived 21 April on TOR, the label Wassu inaugurated in 2020 with his EP ‘Andu.’
“Excited to be back on the label!” Wassu said of the release. “Loux is dedicated to my grandfather who passed in 2019, with a sample of him laughing together recorded on my Zoom H4N a few years ago during a family Christmas in Ocean City, Maryland,” he said. He built one of the quicker cuts at 125 BPM, and called it “a good closer for my sets.”
With each release, Wassu’s melodies have grown warmer and his basslines heavier. The EP arrives following ‘Long Ago,’ his most recent release.
