The Chainsmokers release ‘So Far So Good

Streaming royalties aren’t the only thing changing for The Chainsmokers. Alongside ‘So Far So Good,’ out on 13 May via Disruptor Records/Columbia — the label they’ve called home since 2015 — Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, the group’s two members, have announced a plan to distribute 5,000 NFTs tied to future streaming earnings, aimed at frequent ticket buyers, active Discord members and other longtime supporters.

The album spent months as an inside joke before it had a title. Earlier this year, Taggart and Pall began teasing it across social media with comedic videos and interviews, referring to the then-unnamed project only as ‘TCS4.’ It marks their first long-form release in three years, following two years spent working on it out of public view — time that, on this record, appears to have paid off.

Taggart and Pall have said they went into the sessions with “no rules, no pressure, [and] no preconceived notions” — the loose approach that shaped their fourth studio album.
