Dim Mak’s Steve Aoki releases ‘Neon Future IV

Dim Mak Records released ‘Neon Future IV’ on 3 April, Steve Aoki’s own long-awaited sixth studio album on the label he still runs himself. The record leans on Aoki’s usual electro house and dance-pop base, with reggaeton and moombahton threaded through several of the collaborations, continuing a run in which the label head has produced four albums over six years. Aoki previously issued ‘Maldad’ with Maluma, ‘2 In A Million’ with Sting and SHAED, and ‘Let It Be Me’ with the Backstreet Boys as singles ahead of the record, folding each into the finished tracklist.

Among those collaborations, Aoki teamed with Lay Zhang, a member of the K-pop group EXO, and will.i.am for the single ‘Love You More.’ It opens on soft synth and Lay Zhang’s own vocal before the drop shifts into the deeper bass more typical of Aoki’s own catalogue. The single arrived as one more preview ahead of the finished album. The record itself stands in as a consolation for fans after Aoki called off The Color of Noise tour.
