Stephan Bodzin releases new album Boavista

Stephan Bodzin built his new album by looking backward. Boavista, a seventeen-track release, is out now via Herzblut Recordings, built from years of Bodzin’s own unfinished material. While spending time in Brazil, Bodzin worked back through his archive, chose twenty-five tracks he wanted to complete, and finished them there.

Two of the results are personal in a way the rest of the album is not. ‘LLL’ is written with the people closest to him in mind, an electronic lullaby built around that sense of closeness. ‘Astronautin’ takes its lead synth line from something smaller still: his daughter’s own dream of a future in space travel.

The album’s title track had already reached listeners once, released as a single on Afterlife ahead of the full record’s arrival. Bodzin has called Herzblut Recordings home since 2006, and Boavista follows ‘Powers of Ten (Remixes)’ there.

Luna Semara joins Bodzin on two tracks, ‘Nothing Like You’ and ‘Breathe’, the only credits on the album besides his own.
