Charlotte De Witte announces Asura

The title track is techno with the lights on, chord-led, and virtually all of the colour arrives off those chords, big ones that land repeatedly, keeping everything beneath them lifted. Underneath that there’s an acid line and a rumbling bottom end for the additional weight and the depth. Hard, chrome, high-gloss. It’s been assembled for a room with its arms already up. Charlotte De Witte has collected three of these on Asura, out today on KNTXT.

Asura follows the Formula EP there. An Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 was broadcast in September. De Witte has been releasing since 2015 and has been on KNTXT since 2019, an imprint whose catalogue also carries the likes of Monoloc, Alignment and ONYVAA.

Electro, acid core and hardcore are all somewhere inside the reach of the record, though it turns considerably darker and more secretive after the opener, with the colour still travelling through it. Soma is positioned between them. Last comes Stigma, psytrance in its bones and a big emotional lurch of a thing, with a groove that consumes absolutely everything surrounding it while the bass arrives in concentrated bursts.
