Elderbrook built ‘Innerlight’ entirely long-distance

Elderbrook made his new EP without leaving the UK. Stuck there during lockdown, he set out to record with several of the American artists he’d toured alongside in past years. Every collaboration on ‘Innerlight’ was built long-distance, stitched together across video calls, phone calls and email threads. The four-track EP arrives 8 October via Parlophone UK.

The EP pairs Elderbrook with Bob Moses on its title track, Emmit Fenn on ‘I’ll Find My Way To You’, Kölsch — the melodic techno producer — on ‘Broken Mirror’, and Louis The Child on closer ‘Dominoes’.

Elderbrook broke through in 2017 as a co-writer and vocalist on Camelphat’s ‘Cola’, a platinum-selling single that drew Grammy and Ivor Novello nominations. His debut album, ‘Why Do We Shake In The Cold?’, followed in 2020, and he’s toured since alongside the likes of Bonobo, Friendly Fires and Jungle, racking up over a billion streams.

Elderbrook kicks off a run of UK tour dates in November, with sold-out shows in Birmingham, Manchester and London. Of the new EP, Elderbrook said: “The EP is all about how important it is to trust your instincts and believe that you do have the right ideas.”
