On 1 August, Jimi Jules joined RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Jon George and James Hunt for a sold-out, “in the round” DJ set at The Cause in London — the night before Lately, the trio’s ethereal new single, went out via Rose Avenue/Reprise. It is the second new single in three months, following Music Is Better in June — the trio’s first new music since Surrender, their Grammy-nominated 2021 album, and a run leading to a full-length expected later in 2024.

In the three years since Surrender, RÜFÜS DU SOL won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2022, for the single Alive. They picked up two further nominations the following year, plus a fifth ARIA award in Australia. Sundream, the boutique festival they started, returned for a second year in San José del Cabo in 2023.

The group took part in the debut of Coachella’s new Quasar Stage this year, airing unreleased material during their set. Lately arrives ahead of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s only live show scheduled for 2024, a headline set at Portola Festival in San Francisco on 28 September.
