Porter Robinson follows Look at the Sky with ‘Musician

Mom+Pop has ‘Musician’ out now, the fifth cut from Porter Robinson’s Nurture — his second album, arriving seven years after Worlds. The song follows a run of singles, ‘Get Your Wish,’ ‘Something Comforting’ and ‘Mirror,’ that opened this new chapter of his sound before Nurture landed. It’s his latest release on the label since ‘Look at the Sky,’ out since March 3.

A teaser has already surfaced for an anime-style video accompanying the song, due March 17. Worlds carried the same visual thread, and so did ‘Shelter,’ the animated short Robinson made with fellow producer Madeon.

The single arrives amid some of Robinson’s busiest years yet, built on high-profile releases and packed live sets. Robinson also records under a second alias, Virtual Self, for material distinct from Robinson’s solo work. ‘Musician’ itself pairs glitchy production with a bitpop pulse that tips euphoric.
