Porter Robinson breaks a six-year silence with ‘Get Your Wish

Porter Robinson spent the years since his 2014 debut, Worlds, working almost entirely outside his own name — until ‘Get Your Wish,’ arriving 29 January as the first single from his second album, out via Mom+Pop ahead of the full record later this year.
The interim was carried by Virtual Self, the alias he introduced with a self-titled EP in 2018. He also paired with Madeon on ‘Shelter,’ and spent last summer on Second Sky, the event he curates. Outside of those, nothing had come out under Porter Robinson’s own name since Worlds.
The album was announced this week in a short video posted to Twitter, with news that ‘Get Your Wish’ would follow within a day. Its own video pairs black-and-white sketches with nature imagery, matching a melodic, introspective sound that leans on pitched-up vocals in the verses before closing on Robinson at a piano.
Robinson said of the track: “’Get Your Wish’ is about that breakthrough, which was one of many that helped me through those years.”
The album carries one guest turn: TEED, featured on ‘Unfold.’
