MOLØ opens a new Vivrant album format with Aqua Lull

Aqua Lull lands in a new format for Vivrant: something between the label’s usual two-to-five-track EP and a full ten-to-twelve-track album. It’s the first release built that way, and it comes from MOLØ, the Stockholm native, Berlin-based producer — a seven-track record, out now via Vivrant on 3 May 2024.

MOLØ made her Vivrant debut five years ago with Vanadis, a collaboration with Jeremy Olander that topped one million Spotify streams. Since then she’s put out originals on Marc Romboy’s Systematic and on Anjunadeep, plus remixes for Eli & Fur and for Duccio on Moscoman’s Disco Halal.

Aqua Lull follows Vemode on Vivrant, arriving eight months after it. It marks MOLØ’s return to the label, not her first appearance on it. Three tracks carry outside credits: Running Pine joins on Mio, Atish on Idyll, and boerd on Chelle.

MOLØ has talked about what shaped the record. “Over the past five years, the scene has changed. I’ve seen many small clubs and live music spaces close down, resulting in new artists being pressured to conform to what people in power say move tickets and streams. This pressure clashed with my creative process and what I was making didn’t fit the mold of a peak time set,” she said.
