Mau P sings on his own record for the first time on ‘On Again

Mau P released ‘On Again’ on 30 April via Insomniac Records, and sang the vocals himself.

It’s a first for Mau P specifically, not for the man behind the name: as Maurice West, his earlier studio alias, he used to sing on his own tracks too, and it’s been two years since the last release to carry that name. Mike Dean — the hip-hop producer whose three-decade catalog includes work with Travis Scott and Beyoncé — produced ‘On Again’ alongside Mau P.

The track had already been a fixture of Mau P’s live sets, including a viral back-to-back with Diplo on Coachella’s new Quasar stage earlier this month, before it was formally released. It lands ahead of his sold-out, 7,500-capacity Baddest Behaviour show in NYC this September, and it’s his second Insomniac release, after his label debut, ‘Gimme That Bounce,’ in early 2023.

“This song has had such a beautiful process where I feel like I really found a new part of me as an artist,” Mau P said.
