Joseph Capriati confirms first album since 2013, ‘Metamorfosi

Joseph Capriati has confirmed ‘Metamorfosi’, his first album since 2013’s Self Portrait, for release on 4 September through Redimension, his own label, where he has released music since 2016.

Capriati has described the record as built to hold together well beyond a single dancefloor mood, closer to a fuller account of where his sound stands today. He has also spoken of making it as a period of pushing into new genres and moods, helped by controlling the release entirely through his own imprint. A tour and a run of vinyl-only sets built around Metamorfosi are also planned.

Capriati brought in collaborators outside his usual catalogue. Byron Stingily and Eric Kupper, two established figures in house music, appear on ‘Love Changed Me’. Louie Vega joins him elsewhere on the record, and James Senese, a longstanding voice in Neapolitan blues and funk, features on a track that pairs a techno version from Capriati with Senese’s own original.
