Don Diablo’s long-teased Ultra ID lands as ‘People Say

Don Diablo has released ‘People Say’ through HEXAGON, his first single of 2018.
Fans have spent months on the question of what the track was called and when it would arrive, and both halves of that are now settled. Diablo, a Dutch producer, first played it as an unnamed ID in his Ultra Music Festival set in Miami in the spring of 2017. It has been a fixture of his sets in the months since — the support built up considerably before there was anything to release. If you were in that crowd at Ultra, you heard it before it had a name.
Paije sings on it, with real colour and force in the delivery, and the result is one of the most captivating things Diablo has put his name to. The record sits some way off the future house anthems he is best known for. Synths do most of the carrying, the builds are large, and it stays atmospheric and bass-heavy throughout.
He came off a massive 2017, and ‘People Say’ arrives as part of the build-up to ‘Future’, the album Diablo has due inside the month, with a US run of dates after that. He has said the instrumental came first and did not sound much like his usual work, and that he liked it enough to keep it for his own project rather than pass it on to somebody else.
