Charlotte De Witte follows Tomorrowland history with ‘Apollo

Apollo’s title track arrives hard and raw, its persistent, hammering rhythm giving way to an unexpectedly soothing melody underneath. The rest of the four-track EP ranges from the acid-heavy ‘Missing Channel’ to the more melodic, experimental likes of ‘Mercury’ and ‘PPC.’ Charlotte de Witte built it off the back of a summer that saw her become the first woman ever to close Tomorrowland’s Mainstage — the festival’s biggest stage — as one of 600 artists booked across the event.

Of the record, de Witte says: “The vastness and solitude of space always interested me. A compelling contrast between monumental power and the vacuum in between. This diversion can also be found in techno music, a pure simplicity divergent in power.” Apollo is out now on KNTXT, de Witte’s own label, marking her first new material there in six months since April’s Universal Consciousness.
