Sara Landry and Alt8 share ‘Heaven’, made in under three hours

‘Heaven’ sets a soulful vocal against a relentless techno kick, and the collaboration is Sara Landry’s first single of 2024. Landry and Alt8 reserved three days of studio time at the beginning of April, and the recording that came out of one of those sessions was completed inside three hours. “We felt like making a cute little summer banger, so we did,” Landry said. The single arrives through her own HEKATE Records. The imprint has taken very little time to establish itself across hard techno.

Hard techno has been the story of the year so far, and Landry has emerged at the front of the movement, generally recognized as its high priestess. Born in California, and she taught herself all three trades — the decks, the production, the engineering. She sells out 10,000-capacity venues in minutes, and the streaming figures behind her run into the millions. A Los Angeles return is scheduled for later in the summer, and it sold out immediately.

‘Heaven’ is a summer anthem and the opening track from a debut album expected before the season is out. Alt8 takes the other half of the credit, and for now the single is the only piece of that record you can hear.
