Groove Armada open a new Defected deal with ‘Free Jam

Andy Cato traces ‘Free Jam’ back to a hotel room in Byron Bay, late one night, chasing the feel of a party in full swing. The EP pairs the title cut, featuring vocalist Kathy Brown, with ‘New Kind Of Drama’, featuring Slarta John, and adds an extended mix of each.

‘Free Jam’ arrived 15 May via DFTD, Defected’s sub-label, marking Groove Armada’s first release there and the opening move in a long-term partnership with Defected and Glitterbox announced last August. It follows ‘Little Black Book’, their previous release on any label. The duo headline Defected’s residency at Ushuaïa and Glitterbox’s at Hï this summer, part of the same deal.

Groove Armada’s catalogue includes ‘At The River’, ‘I See You Baby’ and ‘Superstylin’’, chart hits that built their name in UK electronic music well before this deal. Nine studio albums sit behind those singles.
