Flume ends his silence with ‘Say Nothing,’ featuring MAY-A

Before ‘Say Nothing,’ the biggest thing attached to Flume’s name in 2022 was a teaser with Damon Albarn, one of the year’s most anticipated IDs. Now he has released the track on 2 February with fellow Australian singer-songwriter MAY-A, his first original material since 2020, out now via Future Classic.
The wait stretches back to March 2020, when Flume closed out a run of quiet with ‘The Difference,’ a collaboration with Toro y Moi that went on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. He had sporadically teased new material since late 2019, not long after releasing the ‘Hi This Is Flume’ tape that March, before the project took shape as Palaces, his first album since 2016’s Skin, due 20 May.
The single arrives with a cinematic music video, its haunting, electronic pulse carried by MAY-A’s dreamy vocals set against Flume’s own dynamic production. The video and the track are streaming now, with Palaces open for pre-order ahead of its release. “This song is about feelings of post relationship clarity,” Flume said.
