DIM KELLY returns to All Day I Dream with ‘Homily

‘Homily’ opens dark and doesn’t stay there for long. DIM KELLY builds the title track, the longest thing here, from classical shapes, hip-hop’s shuffle and electronic drift, then thins the arrangement out toward the end until the mood lifts. Belgian vocalist Mondingo carries the vocal throughout. The three-track EP is out now via All Day I Dream, Lee Burridge’s long-running day-party imprint — a return for DIM KELLY, who has also released through Burridge’s other label, TRYBESof, plus Armada and Reworck.
DIM KELLY first heard Mondingo’s voice two years ago. “I was completely blown away by it,” he said. “His voice has a depth and emotion that really touches me, so it was only natural that we did something together.” He wrote the music, sent it over, and the vocals came back two days later.
A second guest voice, Maya Safar, joins him on ‘Like When We Love,’ the release’s middle cut. ‘Homily’ landed 14 June, and the EP closes on ‘Rising Child’, the only track without a guest vocalist at all.
