deadmau5 releases new EP mau5ville: level 1

deadmau5 released ‘mau5ville: level 1’ on 13 July via EpicWin Ltd.

Weeks earlier, the producer had put out ‘where’s the drop?’, an orchestral record built from classical arrangements. ‘mau5ville: level 1’ reverses that turn: heavy basslines, prominent vocals and the progressive house drops that have long defined deadmau5’s productions, with a bass flair recalling Getter and GTA. ‘Nyquist’ is the EP’s outlier — deadmau5’s only solo cut, and its shortest at 3:18.

‘Monophobia’ reunites him with Rob Swire, who featured on ‘Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff’ nearly a decade earlier, a track that reached platinum and became one of deadmau5’s biggest songs. ATTLAS, Latroit and Rinzen, fellow mau5trap labelmates, close the EP with remixes of the track, Latroit’s premiering on his own House of Latroit radio show. Stream it below.
