Alok trades the mainstage for the club on ‘My Own Thang

The lead cut off Alok’s new two-track EP, ‘My Own Thang (To The Beat),’ leans into the low end of Brazilian bass, with a wobbling, filtered bassline driving the groove under bright plucked synth lines and soft vocal takes. It’s his first release for Cloonee’s Hellbent Records.
The track reunites Alok with the likes of Walker & Royce and Sophiegrophy, who last worked together on the duo’s 2017 Dirtybird release ‘Self Help,’ nearly a decade ago. It marks a real turn for Alok, big-room production stepped aside for a tighter sound that suits the identity of Hellbent, a label chasing a bigger global footprint through 2026.
The EP’s second track, ‘Grip Slippin’,’ pairs Alok with InntRaw, fresh off a Beatport No. 1 collaboration with Cloonee. Alok has spent over a decade DJing arenas and festival crowds that have topped a million people, and racked up more than a billion streams on Spotify along the way.
