AFROJACK and Mike Williams release ‘Alone’ after its Ultra main stage debut

‘Alone’ had its first play on Ultra’s main stage last weekend, in front of people who then had nothing to go home and stream. That gap closes today. AFROJACK and Mike Williams put the single out on Wall Recordings, the label that has also carried Chico Rose, Marc Benjamin and Azteck. If you were down the front for that one, you got there before the rest of us. Fans have been loud about it since: two of the biggest names in the genre on one track will do that.

AFROJACK has a GRAMMY and a sound that announces itself — heavy beats, hooks that catch on the first pass. He has spent years making that his own, and he keeps pushing it somewhere it has not been. Mike Williams pulls the other way. His records go melodic and then get properly dirty, and there is a run of club tracks and radio ones behind him. On ‘Alone’ the synths soar and the bassline does not let up. Powerful, and pitched upward.
