i_o signs to Armada Music with In My Head

Armada Music, Armin van Buuren’s label, has signed i_o, and the pairing’s first release leans more melodic and progressive than the harder material he’s known for. It arrived 18 September as a two-track single called ‘In My Head,’ split into two parts.

i_o’s catalogue sits on deadmau5’s label, mau5trap, built up steadily since 2017. ‘In My Head’ marks i_o’s first release on Armada, following ‘révolution.’

Earlier this year, i_o put out two EPs on mau5trap, ‘NRG 444’ and ‘AM 444.’ The same year also carried a sold-out run of dates on the 444 album tour.

“It’d been a while since I’d played a show,” i_o said, “and I didn’t realize what kind of high I had been riding until touring stopped abruptly in March 2020.”

i_o has also played EDC Las Vegas and run his own underground event in Los Angeles, ACID RAVE — a full stretch for a producer who’s 30.
